Skip the screen and have some fun!

May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month so in honor of this I am offering this fitness program to the homeschool community. As a fellow homeschool mom, I understand it can be a challenge to find fitness programs that are fun, especially for kids who don’t enjoy competitive sports. It can also be a challenge in Florida to get outdoors when the temperature goes up. However, it is always important to get outside for at least 30 minutes – every day. Our bodies need fresh air, a little sunshine, and an opportunity to be around nature. Right now, only 1 in 3 kids get outside every day. This is detrimental to their health.

Using our muscles, especially our large muscle groups, promotes blood flow improving the function of the cardiovascular system. This also brings fresh blood and nutrients to the brain improving mood, cognitive function, focus and improved energy. Exercise also improves sleep and reduces depression. Yes, it’s a little hot out there, but the benefits are amazing!

What it is:

This program will utilize some of the materials from the Presidential Youth Fitness Program, along with other physical education programming, nutrition, and goal setting. Students will learn how to set personal wellness goals and reach them. We will use games and activities to encourage student to enjoy moving and make some friends along the way. Also, as a homeschool mom, I understand how helpful it is to have paperwork for the portfolio so that will be included and the program will end with a certificate of completion for each student.
